Colorful insects

Recently we did a post about colorful plants around our house, well this time it’s all about the insects. Moths and butterflies seem to be the most colorful insects around here, but there are many others that also are very colorful. I know a lot of people don’t like “bugs”, but there really are some beautifully colored insects around us. Kelley takes pictures of almost every insect that looks interesting. This is just a small collection of some of the colorful insects around us, hope you enjoy.

  1. Beautiful photos! What camera do you use? I’ve always been a “critter guy” and find them fascinating. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Most of the insect pictures are taken on an Olympus Tough camera. We have had a few versions of the Olympus and they are great cameras. The birds and other animal pictures are taken with a Nikon D3500 that we picked up at Costco.

    1. We know a couple of their names. The butterfly is a blue morpho, the one with the “eyes” is a peanut head moth, the one above that is a tiger moth, the black and yellow moth is a hieroglyphic. Not sure on the others, but we will learn. I really want to find out the name of the green one that looks like a bird.

  2. Kel, you’re becoming quite the photographer! Beautiful pictures. Thank you for not including snakes!
